Syril a Rebel? Andor Season 2 Ep 4 Explained – ET Cameo & More!
🚨 Spoiler Alert! This article contains major spoilers for Andor Season 2 Episode 4. If you haven't watched the episode yet, proceed with caution! 🚨
Alright, Star Wars fam, hold onto your nerf herders because Andor Season 2 Episode 4 is a masterclass in tension, rebellion-building, and unexpected returns. If last episode gave us emotional fallout, this one drops us head-first into the political powder keg that is Gorman and the psychological unraveling of Bix and Syril.
Oh, and did we mention Saw Gerrera is back? Unhinged as ever. And possibly... joined by ET? No, seriously.
Let’s break down the biggest reveals, teases, and galactic chaos that Episode 4 (titled "3BY") just served us.
We're in 3BY Now – One Year Later
The episode opens with a title card drop: 3BBY. We’re now one year past the events of Episode 3. That means the emotional gut punch of Brazo’s death, the wedding of Mon Mothma’s daughter, and Tacoma’s mysterious exit (RIP?) are all in the rearview—sort of. The scars linger, and they’re everywhere.
Bix Is Not Okay… and Cassian's Getting Numb
We jump in on Coruscant, where Bix wakes from another nightmare—still haunted by her torture under Dr. Gorst and now by the latest murder committed by Cassian during one of their new rebel ops. Cassian tries to downplay it with the classic, “it fades,” but Bix is stuck. And honestly, who can blame her?
What’s wild is that they’re right there on Coruscant, hiding in plain sight while Dedra—who’s obsessed with catching Cassian—is just a few blocks away.
Syril Khan: Rebel Sympathizer or Double Agent?
On Gorman, Syril is the manager of a dull-sounding department, but this guy's storyline is heating up fast. His mom (the endlessly quotable Eedy) thinks he’s wasting time. But Syril’s out here being followed, planting tripwires at his door, and talking about how Gormans are decent people—directly countering the Empire’s propaganda.
Three rebels overhear this and think he might be flipped. But here's the kicker—he knows they’re listening. Is he setting them up? Is he being set up? Either way, Syril’s in deep.
We’re calling it now: Syril either flips for real—or dies trying to play both sides.
Gorman's Boiling Point – The Next Ferrix?
The Gorman situation is escalating. Imperial buildings are rising. Protesters are chanting in the streets. And whispers of the Tarkin Massacre, where 500 Gormans were killed, haunt every shot.
A local rebellion called the Gorman Front is forming, and they’re looking to Syril as a potential informant. Meanwhile, the Empire’s quietly preparing for the kind of crackdown that could rival Ferrix in Season 1. This is going to get brutal.
Aliens! Yes, Really – And Maybe Even ET?!
Back on Coruscant, Cassian and Bix go shopping, and yes, there are aliens. One in particular really looks like ET’s species. Considering they canonically exist in the Star Wars galaxy (look closely during The Phantom Menace senate scenes), this is either an insane Easter egg or the best headcanon we’ve ever accepted.
Also, that shopkeeper literally says, “Hello there.” Obi-Wan? Is that you in disguise?
Syril Gets the Invite – With Candy Spiders
Syril gets handed a piece of spider-wrapped candy that hides a secret message: a meeting invite from the rebels. In any other Star Wars show, that’d be goofy. But here? It’s just cryptic enough to work.
At the meeting, Caro Ryland and other rebels ask for Syril’s help getting floor plans for the Imperial annex. The Empire denies the building is military-related, but everyone knows better.
Cassian's New Mission – Gorman Bound
Cassian and Luthen have a coded chat. There’s something weird going on with Gorman—too secret even for the rebellion. Cassian’s tasked to go investigate, but Bix can’t come. She’s unraveling fast, and Cassian knows it. Their goodbye? Super tender. The little hand symbol they trace? Could be the Rebel insignia. Subtle, poetic, and 100% heartbreaking.
Saw Gerrera's Return – Chaos Incarnate
Finally, we arrive at Dakar, where Wilmon is working alongside Saw Gerrera and his band of insurgents. He’s building a crazy contraption to help steal ryonium—a highly dangerous starship fuel. It can burn your skin, damage vocal cords (hello, Saw’s rasp), and scramble your brain. That last bit? Might explain why Saw’s, well, Saw.
Also, did anyone else catch that one alien in Saw’s crew that looked suspiciously like ET?
Anyway, Saw’s back and planning chaos. And that means things are going to blow—literally.
ISB and Emperor Palpatine?!
On the Imperial side, Lonni and Dedra have their turf war over Project Axis (aka Luthen). Dedra’s been kicked off it, but that’s huge news for Lonni—who’s still feeding Luthen inside info.
Also, casual mention: Colonel Yularen is going to meet Emperor Palpatine. No biggie. Just a massive lore drop like it’s Tuesday.
Final Verdict: 8.9/10
This episode lays the groundwork for a catastrophic conflict. It’s the slow tension before a thunderstorm, and the writing is tight. Saw's return adds fire. Syril’s arc is fascinating, and Bix’s trauma is handled with unexpected nuance. And yeah—there might be aliens again!
If this is just part one of the arc, we can’t wait to see where Episode 6 lands.
