  • Google AI Studio offers real-time, on-screen software guidance using AI and screen sharing.
  • It performs surprisingly well across easy, medium, and advanced tasks like spreadsheet formatting and automation scripting.
  • While it’s not the death of tutorial videos, it’s a powerful shift in how we learn and apply software tools.

How Google AI Studio Could Replace Software Tutorials Forever

We’ve all been there—googling "how to add conditional formatting in Google Sheets" or scrubbing through a 12-minute YouTube video just to find the one-click you needed at minute 6:42. But what if you didn’t need to do that anymore? What if there was something smarter, faster, and tailored exactly to your screen?

Enter: Google AI Studio.

It’s a free, interactive AI tool from Google that can literally see your screen, understand what software you’re in, and walk you through any task like a calm, all-knowing co-pilot. So naturally, I had to put this AI wizard through the wringer—from baby-level tasks in Google Sheets to beast-mode automation in Make.com.

The question: Is this the death of YouTube tutorials?

Let’s find out.

🟢 Test 1: Beginner Mode – Google Sheets

To kick things off, I gave AI Studio a simple test: “I’ve never used Google Sheets. How do I start?”

The moment I clicked “Record” and selected my screen, Google’s Gemini AI kicked in and recognized that I was on the Sheets homepage. Step-by-step, it walked me through creating a new spreadsheet. Once I was inside the doc, I asked it how to apply conditional formatting so that higher numbers appeared greener and lower numbers less so.

And it nailed it.

From selecting the cells, navigating to the “Format” menu, and choosing “Color Scale,” to customizing the colors—Gemini never missed a beat. Even when I wanted to swap green for red or ask what the different options meant, it answered calmly, in context, without a single Google search or video tutorial.

✅ Verdict: For total beginners, this thing is insane. You can go from clueless to confident in minutes.

🟡 Test 2: Intermediate Level – DaVinci Resolve Captions

Next up: something spicier. I opened DaVinci Resolve and asked AI Studio to help me auto-generate subtitles from an audio track.

Let me be honest—if you’ve ever used Resolve, you know the UI can be... well, overwhelming. But Gemini immediately recognized the software and knew I was looking for the “Create subtitles from audio” feature. It mistakenly told me to go to “Workspace” first, but quickly corrected itself and redirected me to the right “Timeline” tab.

Impressive stuff.

Then I asked how to customize the subtitles—change font color, add stroke and drop shadows, and apply those changes to all subtitle clips. Gemini guided me through each panel shift, showing me exactly what tab to open and where to look (even when the controls were buried in the “Track” tab instead of “Captions”).

✅ Verdict: Even with complex UIs and newer features, AI Studio performs like a pro—though not error-free.

🔴 Test 3: Advanced Level – Automation with ChatGPT in Make.com

Finally, the boss level: setting up an automation that listens for incoming emails and drafts AI responses using ChatGPT.

This required:

  • Triggering a module via Gmail
  • Filtering emails based on date
  • Connecting OpenAI
  • Choosing a model and configuring tokens
  • Creating a prompt
  • Mapping the email content correctly

Not only did AI Studio guide me through every step, but it also helped clarify confusing UI elements like "text content" mapping and module configuration. It even suggested using GPT-3.5 Turbo to keep things cost-effective. That’s the kind of advice you’d only get from someone who's actually used the tool before.

At the end of it all, the workflow ran perfectly. ChatGPT generated a usable email draft based on the trigger—and I didn’t scrub a single YouTube video.

✅ Verdict: This is seriously next-level. We’re not just talking “how-to,” we’re talking real-time AI-assisted creation.

⚖️ So... Is This the Death of YouTube Tutorials?

Yes and no.

Yes, because AI Studio makes traditional tutorial videos feel clunky and slow when you just need to know one specific thingright now. It’s like skipping the entire class and having the teacher answer only your questions.

But no, because YouTube tutorials are about more than step-by-step guides. They offer context, creativity, and often teach why you’re doing something, not just how. More importantly, humans bring ideas. AI can execute tasks, but it won’t dream up novel workflows or creative hacks—at least, not yet.

Tutorial videos aren’t just for instruction; they’re for inspiration. They teach you to think differently, not just do differently.

👾 AI Is Smart—But You're Still the Hero

Using Google AI Studio feels like stepping into the future. It's intuitive, fast, and honestly kind of magical. But it's not coming for your favorite creators—yet.

If anything, tools like this just raise the bar. Now that AI can handle the "how," creators can focus more on the “why” and the big picture—things AI still can’t fully grasp. So don’t worry, tutorial videos aren’t dying. They’re just evolving.
